The IRWFF was curated by Thomas Schmeh of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum in Knoxville, Iowa, from 1999 through 2013. It celebrated the automobile and auto racing in film for those 15 years. The festival is being revived as a kick-off to the seventh annual Michael R. Argetsinger Symposium on International Motor Racing History. The IRWFF, again curated by Auto Racing Research Associates (ARRA) contributor Schmeh, will be held in the Watkins Glen Elementary School auditorium, adjacent to the IMRRC. This year’s film festival theme is “Celebrating Historical Racing Documentaries,” with “Stateline Speedway (Busti, N.Y.): The First Ten Years (1956-65)” by producers Randy Anderson, Greg Peterson and Randy Sweeney being the first film announced.
