In the late 70’s Ferrari created what would be called the Ferrari 512 BB LM race car. Ferrari entered four of these cars in various races including the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1978, however none of the 512 LM’s complete the race.
Again in 1979 Ferrari revisted the 512 BB LM program and lauched a second set of cars with electronic fuel injection and an increase of power to 470hp. Updated body work from Pininfarina was fitted onto the cars which went on to compete. Eventually the 512 BB LM’s won their class at the 1981 24 Hours of Le Mans.
